In its original form THE HUMAN VOICE was presented as a movie without its vocal track.

There was foley - the footsteps, the cars in the distance, the sound of the room but no voice. This absent track was provided live on stage by the same actress we see on the screen, Camille Stubel.

Through the process of dubbing, of reinstating the voice to the body, THE HUMAN VOICE studies the language of grief, deception, depression and duality. It challenges the way we view dance, film and theatre and also confirms the millennial obsession with the cellular phone.

The project was completed as a movie in 2002, with a new dub.
