ROMP! 2013 Festival
Suddenly Dance Theatre presents
The 16th ROMP! FESTIVAL
August 20 - 31, 2013
Suddenly Dance Theatre’s 16th ROMP! FESTIVAL August 20 - 31, 2013 continues to deliver dance to the people. This annual M award-winning dance festival opens with the 5-day program ROMP! IN THE SQUARE – a free dance showcase in Victoria’s downtown Centennial Square.
Each show features a different program from dance artists of diverse styles to create a kinetic urban spectacle. Featuring: Kinesis Dance somatheatro (Vancouver), Bounce (curated by Treena Stubel), Present/Tense 8 (dance and the spoken word), and From Korea with Love, featuring Hyoseung Ye (Seoul, Korea) with Jung ah Chung. Stick around for the FRINGE Festival Picnic (Aug. 20) and the FRINGE Preview (Aug. 21). The Festival includes two FREE all-ages outdoor workshops by Joanne Cuffe, and a professional-level class open to professional dancers, actors and performers by internationally acclaimed choreographer Paras Terezakis.
The ROMP! Festival continues with Suddenly Dance Theatre’s KIKI (August 26 - 31, 2013) @ Langham Court Theatre. Written by David Ferguson, KIKI stars Jung ah Chung as a seemingly lonely and lazy 10 year-old with the imagination of a ‘rock and roll’ poetess; with songs by Miles Lowry.
