Suddenly Dance Theatre is pleased to announce Victoria’s 12th ROMP! A Festival of Independent Dance will take place between October 15 – November 8, 2009, in Victoria, British Columbia.
The ROMP! Festival is a platform for professional independent dancers and choreographers to show new work. This M-Award winning Festival has grown to become a significant part of the Canadian dance ecology – a venue for experimentation and creative exploration for established and emerging dance artists. Multiple programs offer an opportunity to sample diverse dance works, with live performances interspersed with dance films from around the world.
Over the years, Suddenly Dance Theatre’s ROMP! Festival has featured work by artists such as Santa Aloi, Holly Bright, Cori Caulfield, Jung–ah Chung, Constance Cooke, Judith Garray, James Gnam, Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, D.A. Hoskins, Caroline Liffmann, Karen Jamieson, Simone Orlando, Crystal Pite, Dominique Porte, Lynda Raino, Alvin Erasga Tolentino, Wen Wei Wang and many others!
The 12th ROMP! A Festival of Independent Dance supports the work and development of professional dance artists. There are three components to the Festival: invited Guest Artists; mixed programs by Independent Choreographers; and Dance on Film/Video.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
Dance artists (choreographers, companies, dancers, filmmakers) may submit work for consideration by completing and submitting an online application only.
