Morning Rush Hour III by Heather Keenan

My recent work is a narrative on imagined places of gathering; railway stations, streets and landscapes. The figures are at a nexus point, either beginning or ending their passage into or from a place of light. I use oil pigment sticks as a painting and a drawing medium, working on rag paper, canvas and board, in many different sizes, from 3 x 5 inches to 5 x 9 feet. The oilsticks contain pure vegetable waxes, linseed oil and pure pigments. I work automatically, laying down the paint in layers, using rags and scrapers to rub areas out as well as using watercolour pencils for the lines. Many images appear as I’m working on a piece, but usually one image sticks midway in the process and this is what I work on for the finished image. I received a Diploma in Art and Design at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta. My artwork is in collections throughout the United States and Canada, and is on the covers of over 20 books and publications. I’ve received a BC Arts Council award, won Best in Show at Sooke Fine Arts and the Winsor & Newton North American Artist's Competition. I am in the collections of the University of Victoria, Manitou Foundation, British Columbia's Children's Hospital as well as The Canada Council and British Columbia Art Banks.

Artworks are securely packaged in custom-built crates or packages. 

International shipments may require additional information for customs paperwork. International shipments may be subject to additional local import taxes and/or duties to be paid only by the purchaser.
